Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about Riivla, the data, and the countries we cover.
What is Riivla?
Riivla shows you what's trending on YouTube every day across 12 countries: the US, Germany, UK, France, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, Indonesia, India, Mexico, Canada, and Spain. See the hottest videos, the biggest movers, and what just broke onto the chart.
Do I need to register?
No. Everything is open access. Just open any country page and go.
Where does the data come from?
It's public YouTube trending data: video titles, thumbnails, view and like counts, and channel names. Nothing private, just what anyone can see on YouTube's own trending page.
How often is the data updated?
Daily. Each country page also refreshes through the day, about every six hours, so the day’s movers stay current.
What regions are covered?
Twelve countries: US, DE, GB, FR, JP, KR, BR, ID, IN, MX, CA, and ES. Switch between them from the Trending hub.
How are trending videos determined?
They come straight from YouTube's own trending list for each region. We track daily ranking changes, new entries, and drops on top of that.
How accurate is the data?
It comes directly from the YouTube API, so it's as accurate as YouTube reports. There can be a few hours of lag between live counts and API-reported numbers.
Can I use this data for my own research?
Go for it. Just note that the underlying data belongs to YouTube. If you publish anything based on it, cite the YouTube Data API as the source.
How do I get in touch?
Riivla is built and maintained by MNIII, an independent developer. Use the Contact page; feedback, bug reports, and suggestions are all welcome.
