This analysis examines the upload timestamps of videos that successfully reached YouTube's trending list across 9 countries. By analyzing when these videos were originally published, we identify patterns in optimal upload timing that correlate with trending success.
The best hour represents the upload hour (in local time for single-timezone countries, or UTC for multi-timezone countries) that produced the most trending videos. The time to trend measures how many hours elapsed between a video's upload and its first appearance on the trending list.
Data is collected daily using the YouTube Data API v3. Each video's first trending appearance is used to avoid double-counting videos that remain on the trending list for multiple days. Results are based on a rolling 30-day window and updated daily.
Important caveat: This analysis only includes videos that successfully reached the trending list. It does not account for the total number of videos uploaded at each hour or day. A high count at a specific hour means many trending videos were published then, but does not necessarily mean uploading at that hour increases your chances of trending. Use these patterns as one reference point among many when planning your upload schedule.
